Questia Research App Reviews

Research on the go!

I am a Questia subscriber and since I usually have my iPad with me having this app allows me to do research when the mood strikes and I am not tied to my computer.

Awesome!

So glad I found this app! I think it literally saved me a full day or two of finding "good" sources for my history paper - which btw ended up also being awesome. :) I literally almost found too many great ones thru this. Plus Im horrible at keeping organized so the folders were very useful. Thank you, Questia!

Excellent Questia Reader

This is a great improvement over the previous version. It turns pages much better and you can easily navigate between projects. Its a great marriage between an excellent information resource and a mobile acccess device. One glaring problem is with searches. If you get say 200 results, you only get to view maybe the first 30 or so before the results quit refreshing. Once thats fixed, youll have a 5 star product!

It crashes on iPad air

It doesnt work at all on iPad air!!!

Wear a crash helmet

Despite several reviews that warn of frequent crashes, and a recent update to address the issue, the app still crashes at an annoying rate. If they dont fix the problem I will not renew my subscription!

This app isnt bad.. its terrible

For some reason, turning pages is very sluggish. If you turn away from a book you are reading on the app, sometimes its not there when you return. The app apparently keeps no record of what you were just reading, so you have to find the book again and then find your page. Yes, it does appear there are bookmarks and ways of saving books for later. But the default setting of the app should be to keep whatever book you happened to be reading in a "recently read" folder so you can readily access it later. Among the 30 odd apps I have downloaded for the iPad, this app is probably within the bottom 10% in terms of overall quality. The only reason I am using it is because Questia provides access to a book that I cant find elsewhere online.

visually impared

Apparently Questia has decided that visually impaired people are no longer important. They have decided that only two sizes of typeface is ok (neither size is big enough for someone who is visually impaired. Also, i was hoping for an option to view the page woth white text on a black background. Thanks Questia for diminishing my ability to use your app.

Needs work

The text appears to be cut-off. The bottom of pages isnt matching up with top of next page. Maybe needs a zoom out function.

Does not recognize I am logged in

I frequently have to log out and back in to get the app to recognize me as a subscriber. This is annoying. Also, most images in most texts are not included. Hopefully this can be fixed soon too. Otherwise, this is a great app and service I use almost every day.

Awful reader

Buggy, hard to use, slow. Wish these ebooks could be transferred or copied to Kindle.

Doubting 2 or 3 stars

by Theophilus 1. Lacks instructions 2. Good general searcher... 3. Lacks inner book searcher, that is very serious 4. To go back to the initial sear from inside a book you have to return to Home, which is absurd 5. Very, very slow in passing the pages 6. Swipe moments dont always work. You have to repeat them. 7. Why not also have arrows to advance and go back, and page number selection. 8. Only two letter sizes to choose. And etc. Etc. PLEASE DO SOMETHING, QUESTIA WAS SO A GOOD PLACE... THE APP NEEDS A LOT OF REFINING...

Unusable Reader

I downloaded this so I could access and read content on Questia. This task is made impossible by the reader, which doesnt show page numbers, and cuts out parts of each page. VERY frustrating.

Questia please help

Questia is great the app not so much.....need to have page numbers clear and viable all times, need to have swiping navigation more consistent, intuitive and explained! If you fix the reader it will be a big step forward

MUST HAVE!

Ive been using questia since day one and it have only gotten better!

Great subscription svc, terrible app

I love Questia as a subscription service for scholarly reasearch. It is invaluable. The app is terrible, though. It crashes constantly during searches and when attempting to open a book. Pages are cut off and turning the page is impossible. Use this to find and tag books, but carry your laptop for actual reading.

Poor reader

Love the literature but HATE this app. Can search for literature but to actually read? Not had any success. Very disappointed:/

User-UNFRIENDLY to the point of unusability

They seriously need to hire an experienced app designer to fix the user interface. Like the other reviewer said, great subscription service (they have an amazing book collection!) but terrible app. Its not 100% impossible to turn a page in a book...only 95% impossible. I can only flip BACKWARDS, not forwards, and thats only by swiping in an up-down direction. (Both swiping upwards AND swiping downwards flip the pages backwards, as far as I can tell.) Swiping side-to-side like in any other touchscreen reading app (ibooks, kindle, etc) does nothing. Seriously, hire someone who knows about app design conventions.

Better than the last version.

Vastly improved experience from the previous version. Works well.

Great Research Tool

Questia is is a great research tool to use for research papers and other school related things! It has books, magazines, journals and other articles you can look at for just about any topic you search!
